ABOUT ROSEMARY FRANCIS FRENG

I am an engineer, founder, entrepreneur, mentor and thought leader. I am also the CTO of CommonAI Compute, democratizing access to compute across the AI industry. Every team deserves to feel supported and that they have they tools and infrastructure around them to do their job securely and effectively. At CommonAI we are building the platforms, tools and technology stacks to ensure that every AI startup or team can be successful at speed. My PhD was in computer architecture and over my career I\'ve worked in data analytics, AI, high-performance computing, cloud computing and in the semiconductor industry. I have recently taken an interest in Quantum Computing. In 2010 I founded Ellexus, the I/O profiling company, which I grew internationally in the semiconductor, energy and life sciences sectors. Ellexus was acquired by Altair in 2020. I spent four years as Chief Scientist for High Performance Computing and Cloud, where I lead an international team transforming the data analytics tooling and modernizing the HPC infrastructure products for the AI era. I enjoy bringing people together to work on a shared goal. I enjoy understanding every piece of the technology stack, from the hardware up to the user-facing software. I love designing products that engineers want to use. I regularly mentor and advise startups, whether they are very early stage or looking to scale. This feeds into the policy and enterprise work I do with the Royal Academy of Engineering to improve the way we provide for scale up businesses in the UK.
