Greener Lent is a ecumenical Lenten program focused on our moral obligation to examine how our lifestyles and choices affect the poor. Participants eliminate or reduce meat consumption during Lent and receive weekly updates about the cumulative impact of their sacrifice in carbon equivalents. Greener Lent has its inspiration from Pope Francis\'s encyclical, Laudato Siˆ. It builds on two of the three traditional Catholic elements of Lent, prayer and fasting and connects us with the poor who are most impacted by the climate crisis.
