About Roselia Banuelos

Born in Mexico and raised in a vibrant Mexican community I’ve always had a passion for understanding the complexities of the human mind and emotions. Growing up in a household where discussions around mental health were very rare, I developed a keen interest in psychology as I was introduced to it in high school. As the youngest of 9, observation has always come easy and psychology has helped sort through what has been observed. After completing my undergraduate studies in Psychology, I went on to serve in the Peace Corps as a community health promoter in Mozambique, volunteering with a Community-Based Organization and assisting with their organizational development. With deep sense of purpose, I embarked on a career as a mental health professional. For almost a decade, I dedicated myself to helping individuals (mostly Spanish-speaking 3 – 18 year olds) navigate the complexities of their mental health challenges. My empathetic approach, combined with expertise that includes a yoga teacher certification, expanded my understanding regarding the complexities that youth with disturbances have to deal with in our social services systems. I listened to so many stories from many children that I knew I couldn’t help and after realizing that there were limitations to traditional therapy settings. Also, I observed how the lack of accessibility and inclusivity in mental health services prevented many from seeking the help they needed, I decided to pursue a Master\'s degree in Social Work to get a wider understanding of our systems. My academic journey was not just about gaining knowledge; it was about understanding the diverse range of human experiences and the importance of creating safe spaces for healing and growth. Determined to break down systemic barriers, I’ve decided to channel my passion for creating safe spaces into something bigger. In May of 2024, I took a leap of faith and co-founded CREATOPIA, INC. Fueled by my vision of using technology as a force for good, in spaces accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstance, I’ve set out to revolutionize the way people interact with play and each other through technology.
