Assist in developing and implementing occupational health and safety programs, policies, procedures and processes. Advise all levels of management, JHSC and employees on Health and Safety issues. Organizing and conducting a weekly Safety observation tour with management. Assisting MOLTSD during field visits. Providing directions to Area leaders for weekly safety stand down meetings. Administer WSIB claims. Updating TDG audit schedules and sending TDG audits to higher authorities. Sending out safety alerts for major/minor incidents occurred in Buildings. Working with union H&S reps to reduce workplace incidents and injuries. Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as all government regulations. Conducting investigations into accidents, incidents, first aid or near misses. Conducting and rewarding monthly Safety promotion contests like raffles, poster competitions for employee participation in safety. Assess safety training needs and provide training to all employee’s, ensuring training is up to date in accordance with legislation. Maintain accurate training records for all employees. Conduct new hire orientations. Review incident reports, find the root cause and provide corrective actions as necessary. Coach operation on trends and goals with regards to incident reports. Perform risk assessments/ergonomics assessments as required. Ensure emergency procedures are up to date and that appropriate personnel are trained in procedures. Updating SDS. Attend training sessions, seminars, and networking groups for continued professional growth.
