WORK HISTORY
Rf Engineer @TÜV SÜD
Segensworth West, GB
Working mainly on product test evaluation (usually radiated, some conducted) to European ETSI & American FCC/ANSI standards in anechoic test chamber environments. Typically with R&S ESW44 test receiver/analyzer, Keysight PXA analyzer, PSG Signal Generator and HP equipment. Also use R&S ZVA (VNA) regularly.Much recent work on 4G (LTE), 5G and 6G and Bluetooth devices. Recently evaluated an Iridium device to FCC Part 25 and EN301441 standards. Currently working with 76-81 GHz Pulsed and FMCW radar devices & sensors and evaluation to FCC Part 95 requirements. A great development opportunity to allow me to use mm-Wave test equipment and practise suitable measurement techniques in the 40 - 230 GHz range where I have been seeking more practical development experience. This is in alignment with my personal development plans- Learning to use Anritsu MT8821C, Keysight UXM and R&S CMW500 basestations, using LTE NB IoT, Cat1, Cat M1, GSM, GSM-R, 5G WLAN GNSS technologies- Working directly with external customers to solve their RF test needs, and managing internal stakeholders- Continuous improvement of internal processes, software, tools.

ABOUT ROSCOE W. S. HARRISON
I am an Electronic engineer specialising in RF circuit and antenna design.Since a young age I have always had a passion and fascination for all things RF & Microwave, from VLF through into the mm-Wave region. I chose to develop that further into a varied and fulfilling career, seeking a good foundation upon which to build a deeper understanding of the concepts later encountered at university. My lifelong interest within amateur radio has also helped to support those theoretical concepts with practical real-world experience, and also provided a way to network within the telecoms industry. Over my lifetime to date, I have managed to match my passion for RF engineering to projects that make an positive impact to society, whether that be to help support our armed forces on the battlefield, advance medical developments, or to help develop and maintain the next generation of wireless communications technology. I continue to seek opportunities to better understand the new and future wireless technologies, gain practical experience of the hardware and test equipment that are needed to support them. Especially relevant are those that support the current and future generations of \"digital\" communications infrastructure (Including LTE, 4G, 5G, IoT etc.) that will connect people together, and allow us to build faster, more secure networks.During my career I have worked within engineering team environments in both large and small organisations, and shown the flexibility needed to adapt to working within environments with varying circumstances. I focus on seeking a methodical, practical and economical approach to solving engineering challenges, tailored to meet specific customer requirements.I am continuing my professional development and training with the IET towards becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng). Alongside my engineering career, I am currently refreshing/learning German language skills to help me support an anticipated period working abroad in the future.Specialties: My specialist areas of interest include - High-grade RF receiver technology.(Direct-Conversion and Superhet architectures.)- High power RF power amplifier design (Both Tube and Solidstate)(Tube PA\'s up to 1kW CW.)- High Voltage PSU design (upto 3kV@1A)- Built 3 HV PSU\'s- Maintaining clean signals free of spurs, harmonics and intermod products. Gain distribution in Rx & Tx architectures- RF test and measurement- DC - 3 GHz Antennas designs and propagation modes (core).
