About Ronette Lawrence

The red thread of my career has been understanding people- listening to them about how they feel, about what they think, and blending that with data about how they act. I have built a career around this understanding: building enduring products and brands that people love, marketing they remember, and teams who bring it to life.Having spent most of my time in strategic planning and research roles in the technology space, I spend my days balancing art and science, gut and truth, boldness and measure. I am voraciously curious, love to play and to make things, and have been lucky enough to do so surrounded by amazing people.In my 17 years at Microsoft, I had a broad set of experiences that crossed commercial and consumer products, and crossed marketing and engineering disciplines. For the last 4 years at Microsoft, I relocated with my family to Paris to gain experiences working and living outside the United States. In my last role, I led a global Worldwide Learning team that helps ensure our customers, partners, employees, and future generations have the technical and professional skills to be successful in today’s changing world. We impacted the learning agendas for our customers, partners and governments in over 40 countries.In 2023, I retired from commercial work to be able to spend my time and talents on personal projects including influencing equality policy and to have a more hands-on impact in my communities.My superpowers:• I love puzzles- the harder the better; I\'m best when unraveling a problem• I synthesize and connect disparate information quickly• I can weave a story that inspires people and speaks to them individually• I crave working with others and am at my best in a team• I enjoy change and have learned how to help others through it• My brain is a chessboard; I constantly look to the future

   I am proud to join the board of Equality North Carolina, the largest LGBTQ+ rights advocacy group and political lobbying organization in North Carolina, and the oldest statewide LGBTQ+ equality organization in the United States. ENC is dedicated to securing rights and protections—full equality- for the LGBTQ+ community.
