   Draft memoranda on a wide range of issues under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, analyze proposed rule changes by SROs (self-regulatory organizations). Participate in rulemaking and special projects as well as supervise other attorneys in the review of such proposals and special projects. Review of Proposed Rule Changes by SROs:Analyze proposals submitted by SROs seeking to adopt new rules or change existing rules particularly in the areas related to professional traders and new derivative products such as ETFs (exchange-traded funds). Draft notices and approval orders of proposals for publication in the Federal Register. Draft action memoranda to the Commission recommending whether to approve proposed rule changes. Rulemaking Projects:Rulemaking project to draft proposing release for Regulation NMS. Draft sections of the subpenny pricing proposal, one of the Regulation NMS proposals, prohibiting subpenny quoting in most stocks. Collaborate with a team of attorneys and economists on proposal. Rulemaking project to analyze petitions from the public requesting that the Commission initiate rulemaking proceedings. Analyze petitions on various issues and draft action memoranda to the Commission recommending whether to grant such petitions.
