ABOUT RONALD DAVIS

Ronald Davis is a seasoned law enforcement executive with extensive experience leading large-scale agencies and managing multi-billion-dollar budgets. He was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden and confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as the 12th Director of the United States Marshals Service (USMS). As Director of the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency, Mr. Davis led a workforce of more than professionals, including approximately 5,500 deputy marshals and administrative personnel, and over special deputized court security officers. The USMS operates across more than 500 domestic offices within 94 judicial districts and maintains four foreign field offices, with an annual operating budget exceeding $3.8 billion. From 2013 to 2017, Mr. Davis served as Director of the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), where he oversaw federal grant programs totaling over $1 billion. In 2015, President Barack Obama appointed him Executive Director of the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing. Mr. Davis has over 28 years of local law enforcement experience, beginning in 1985 with the Oakland Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Captain. In 2005, he was appointed Chief of Police for the City of East Palo Alto, California, a position he held for more than eight years. During his tenure, he worked collaboratively with the community to build public trust, enhance organizational accountability, and significantly reduce crime and violence in a city once dubbed the \"murder capital\" of the United States. Mr. Davis holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and completed the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He also served as a member of the Executive Sessions on Policing and Public Safety at Harvard. He is married to Janeith Glenn-Davis, a retired police executive with more than 30 years of service. They have three children and two grandchildren.
