As part of the KPMG India ESG Advisory team, I serve as a government and public services advisor to the Climate Change Department, Government of Gujarat, and the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA). My role is focused on shaping and implementing climate resilience and sustainable energy strategies for the state of Gujarat-Guide policy design and support the execution of Gujarat’s climate action plans and renewable energy programs in collaboration with various state government departments-Advise on the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into public sector initiatives, driving sustainable transformation within government and society-Facilitate cross-government and public-private partnerships aimed at accelerating the adoption of clean energy, decarbonization, and energy efficiency measures across Gujarat-Provide strategic counsel for the development, monitoring, and reporting of climate adaptation and mitigation frameworks, supporting Gujarat’s leadership as India’s first state with a dedicated climate change department-Work closely with national agencies and stakeholders to deliver ESG-driven innovation in regulatory design, project implementation, and impactful climate finance mechanisms-Leverage multidisciplinary expertise to evaluate and deliver climate change projects, renewable energy deployment, and sustainable development schemes at scale.
