About Ronak Jaiswal
Currently working as Technical Consultant in Hitachi Energy. Protection Engineer in Quanta Technology. My main responsibilities included designing and developing relay settings and performing system studies. I have completed my Masters in Electric Power Systems Engineering.I have done course work on Smart Electric Power Distribution Systems, Electric Power Systems Protection, Renewable Electric Energy Systems, Power System Operation and Control, Communication and SCADA Systems for Smart Grid and Business of Electric Utilities. As a part of these course work, I learned many new softwares such as AcSELerator Quickset, AcSELerator Architect, AcSELerator RTAC, SEL Diagram Builder, PCM600, Distributed Test Manager, Milsoft Windmil, Open DSS, Wireshark and ETAP. I have done few projects in which I was working with SEL Relays and RTAC. Also, in my capstone project, which is sponsored by Entergy and ABB, I will get opportunity to program ABB Relays for several protection schemes of Entergy\'s Substation. I will also configure them to communicate with other ABB Relay and Merging Units using IEC61•••92 communication protocol. Apart from academia, I also did grid protection research internship at ABB - United States Corporate Research Center (USCRC). Here, my role was to analyze the effect of integrating renewable energy sources to the grid and see how the protections schemes are being affected at Transmission level and at distribution level.I also worked at FREEDM systems center located in Centennial Campus of NCSU, with Dr. Subhashish Bhattarcharya on company sponsored projects. Gained hands on Experience in hardware verification and testing it on high voltages. I was involved in verifying of high power rating SiC MOSFETs, DPT and avalanche characterization of diode modules, soldering different components for gate driver PCB and power supplies and used them in operating three phases of dual active bridge converter at 5-6 KV.
