ABOUT RON BEARD

As the Chief of Police at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for over 17 years, I am responsible for overseeing the safety and security of veterans, staff, and visitors at one of the largest health care systems in the country. With a background in criminal justice, physical security, and law enforcement, I have extensive experience in program management, national security, government, and emergency response. I lead a team of trained and dedicated police officers who enforce federal laws and regulations, provide crime prevention and community policing services, and coordinate with local and federal agencies. I am passionate about serving and protecting those who have served our nation, and I strive to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability. I am also retired U.S. Air Force of 23 years, where I served many senior management roles such as First Sergeant, NCOIC of Training, and Superintendent. As a Superintendent I managed personnel, equipment, and budget for various missions and operations. I am proud of my contributes to both the VA and the Air Force, and I look forward to continuing to grow and learn as a leader and a public servant.
