ABOUT ROMANY REAGAN

I received my doctorate in 2018 from Royal Holloway, University of London, in Performing Heritage. My focus is on creative public engagement with a variety of audiences in the heritage and museum sector. I have a passion for storytelling and finding unique ways to deliver content to visitors in new and dynamic ways. To this end, I have guided tours of historic buildings and heritage sites, worked on a production team bringing the archive to life through theatre, as well as crafted historical and storytelling audio walks for various locations throughout London. I am a skilled researcher and have undertaken many speaking engagements at museums, heritage sites, and conferences, several with accompanying mini-exhibitions. I have six published articles and run my own popular folklore blog, Blackthorn & Stone, sharing legends and tales of the British Isles. I am looking forward to the next step in my career: joining a public engagement team where I can craft moments that both challenge and celebrate our heritage stories. My ongoing work on my blog Blackthorn & Stone (https://blackthornandstone.com/) explores site-based folklore and legends. The public engagement content that I am most proud of are my audio walks. I began creating these journeys and sonic landscapes as the project element of my practice-based PhD in Performing Heritage. Since the completion of that project, I have continued to create audio walks for the Abney Park Trust (20••••17; 2020), London International Festival of Theatre LIFT (2016), Museum of the Home (2018), Bloomsbury Festival (2019 and 2020), and I am currently in the research stage crafting geolocated audio walks commissioned for Museum of London and Fulham Palace (2021).
