ABOUT ROMAIN DERVAL
I build robots that help people. From candy factory to 1 star Michelin kitchen to robotics. My path is unusual, and that\'s the point. Those years taught me teamwork under pressure, machinery operations, and how to communicate clearly when stakes are high. Teaching and practicing martial arts gave me patience, precision, and the ability to build trust. Then I helped a family with muscular dystrophy. That changed everything. I realized my technical skills can help people. That realization became Tribonix. What I build- Full-stack robotics for rehabilitation (exoskeletons, teleoperation systems, assistive devices)-Control software in C, C++, Python, MicroPython-Mechanical systems in Solidworks, Fusion 360-Electronics and PCBs in KiCad, EAGLE-Composite fabrication, additive manufacturing, CNC machining, solderingKey accomplishments-Peer-reviewed journal publication on upper body exoskeleton with Oxford-Two international conference presentations (exoskeleton research + automated vertical farm systems)-Prosthetic leg socket design + Cybathlon participation (real-world assistive technology competition)-Currently developing outdoor vertical farm systems (automation, environmental control, crop monitoring)-Led exoskeleton research projects (upper body BLDC motor control, lower back IMU + servo systems, chest biomechanics)-Designed muscle atrophy prevention mechanisms and augmented joint mechanics-Developed robot teleoperation systems and automated indoor vertical farm control-Negotiated partnerships with Bristol Robotics Lab and multiple research/commercial partners-Trained and mentored university students in mechatronics -Collaborated directly with physiotherapists, medical professionals, and individuals with disabilities-Repaired and maintained wheelchairsPrevious chapters that still serve me-Chef across 9 restaurants → pressure-proof teamwork-Theater security → communication under real-time stress-Industrial food production apprentice → automation, quality control, factory operationsI\'m now available for freelance robotics development, technical consulting for medtech startups, and research grant collaborations. I work best at the intersection of hardware, software, and human need. From idea to reality. Let\'s talk if you\'re building rehabilitation technology, custom mobility devices, teleoperated systems, or vertical farming automation. I would be happy to help if you need a technical lead who speaks both engineering and business.
