ABOUT ROLF PFISTER

I am the Director of Research at Lab42, a non-profit AI research institute in Switzerland, where I define the research agenda, lead the team, and represent the AI institute to the public. I hold a Dr. in Philosophy of Science from LMU Munich and specialise in researching the fundamental principles of knowledge and intelligence, as well as the development of artificial general intelligence (AGI) in humanoid robotics. Building on my experience in both academia and industry, I am dedicated to developing new approaches to AI that go beyond current statistical deep learning models by implementing scientific methods that enable AI to understand the world. My core competence lies in analysing complex problems to develop a deep conceptual understanding and profound solutions, thereby efficiently bridging the gap between theoretical AI research and its productive application in business environments. My professional experience is complemented by publishing regularly in scientific journals, holding lectures at multiple universities, consulting companies on the implementation of AI and robotics, giving public speeches, and my experience in the founding and management of several companies.
