About Rohit Thotakura

I\'ve spent 6+ years at AWS, mostly building and operating AWS Lambda\'s workload routing system, the infrastructure that decides where every Lambda customer request lands on our compute fleet. I\'ve accumulated years of experience with systems that run at tens of millions of TPS and support multiple 9s of availability.The workload routing space poses interesting engineering tradeoffs: customer-facing latency and performance vs. compute economics. Every routing decision touches both, and optimizing for one has consequences for the other. A lot of my career has been spent reasoning about that tension directly.Right now, I\'m working on the compute for a new serverless initiative (stay tuned).I\'m drawn to infrastructure roles where distributed systems problems are genuinely deep and the customer experience is not someone else\'s problem.
