Assists the Mechanical Engineering Manager and/or Mechanical Design Supervisor in Designing/building the most cost effective automotive assembly systems.Obtains engineering quotes from global vendors and ensures Customer is receiving competitive cost.Must be able to learn & utilize various CAD & PLM programs per given project.Works as a team player with other coordinating departments.Creates 3D Conceptual Designs to customer requirements.Attends or facilitates customer, vendor and internal reviews when required.Attends DFMEA’s/ERGO\'s at rough sketch and forty percent design completion phases when required.Fields Telephone calls from build suppliers & shops Personnel for Engineering Problems & associated ProblemsReviews all drawings prior to mechanical quality checking.Ensures all As Builds and Non conformances are updated on DrawingsReleases or oversees drawings for mechanical engineering services for global engineering vendors.Revises mechanical drawings when necessary.Updates project and budget schedules.Creates change information for estimating.Logs in, files and maintains all component information and drawings per assigned project.Fills out or reviews control line-up forms per designated project.Co-ordinates with Vendors for Commercial component selection & Buy offsEnsures designs are cost effective, Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.
