Major Duties & Responsibilities:Deliver the Year 12 English Studies (Work Ready) curriculum, supporting students to become competent, confident, and engaged communicators across reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and representing.Design and adapt learning experiences to meet the needs of students with high learning needs, including those on individual learning, behaviour, and wellbeing plans.Differentiate instruction and assessment to support diverse literacy levels, ensuring equitable access to course content and pathways beyond school.Explicitly teach functional, workplace, and academic literacy skills aligned with students’ post-school, vocational, and employment goals.Support students to comprehend, interpret, evaluate, and create a wide range of everyday, digital, media, and workplace texts.Scaffold learning to build students’ confidence in accessing information, assessing reliability, and synthesizing ideas from multiple sources.Foster inclusive, supportive classroom environments that prioritize student engagement, wellbeing, and positive learning relationships.Collaborate with learning support staff, wellbeing teams, and families to implement adjustments and monitor student progress.Use formative assessment, feedback, and reflective practice to support student growth and refine teaching approaches while establishing the course.Encourage critical and flexible thinking, helping students connect texts to their own lives, the world of work, and broader social and cultural contexts.
