My first security report was an 80-page PDF with 108 findings colored in red, orange, and yellow. And to make matters worse, the tech stack I used (WAMP) was already reaching end-of-life.I was a one-man team fresh out of college and had built a decision support system that everyone loved. Everyone except the IT and Security teams. But we found a way to keep that system running for over a decade - years after I had left the organization.I learned early in my career that building software was fun and easy, but maintaining it was frustrating and hard. My first startup, where we identified outdated and vulnerable open-source dependencies for dev teams, only reinforced this learning and helped me better understand the challenges with DevOps and SDLC. Alert fatigue, false alarms, compliance audits, SLAs, weekly reports - have left developers overwhelmed when instead they should feel empowered.There has to be a better way of doing things that lets developers do more of what they love doing - building great software. And that is why I started Patched.
