About Roger Horowitz
I\'m an organizer. I do logistics, operations and I get people to show up. I started Pleasant Pops in 2009 because I loved the local fruit at DC area farmers\' markets and decided to combine fresh, local fruit and the traditional fresh fruit ice pops that I\'d grown up with in New York made by hand at corner stores.I was self employed for 9 years and took my organizing skills learned on the Obama Campaign in 2007 and 2008 to create processes, recruit customers, hire staff, manage people and run my own business. Pleasant Pops started selling in 2010 at the Mt. Pleasant Farmers\' Market and eventually ended up expanding to 8 farmers\' markets, an ice cream truck, 2 locations and wholesale. After selling my business, I started as Solar United Neighbors and got a crash course in the world of distributed energy resources, distributed power plants and residential solar. I\'ve been at Solar United Neighbors since 2019, where I run our Go Solar Team. We organize Solar Co-ops and Switch Together campaigns to help folks learn about solar, go solar, and fight for their energy rights. The Go Solar team runs a Solar Help Desk that helps homeowners with solar issues and also helps folks go solar.
