ABOUT ROGER MAYO
I am a husband and father of four amazing children. I am member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and am very active in the community. I am a Computer Science(CS) teacher at Advanced Technologies Academy (A-TECH). I am an Ambassador for Tech Alley. Active on UNLV CS Advisory Board. I am looking to give my students the most amazing opportunities in CS that are available: mentors, internships/jobs, scholarships, real life experience. My students will have 6 years of programming when they graduate from High school. Many will also have 3 years of Digital Game Development or 3 years of Website Science or other courses. I want to build CS across the school/state/nation. I founded Computer Science Teachers Association for the State of Nevada, Silver State Chapter. I want my students to develop professionally. I want them to give back and teach middle school and elementary teachers and students how to program. I want to provide CS to even the most rural areas. I want to grow alumni support and recognize their accomplishments. I want to be able to get together a couple of times a year (w/food) with the Alumni to provide pipelines/mentor-ships of where my students use their CS knowledge and develop down any path: tech, medical, financial, civil, construction, game development, database, web, security, virtual reality, etc. I want those alumni to help mentor the students through college. I want to be able to display all the amazing contributions A-TECH students and alumni are making both inside and outside the school. I need businesses/alumni/individuals that are willing provide time, talent, and money to make these opportunities happen.
