ABOUT ROGER ALVARADO
My parents, like many others in my hometown of Delano, CA, sacrificed their entire lives to move to the United States of America from Zacatecas, Mexico; to provide me and my siblings a life and opportunities they never had. It is why I feel as though it is only right, as the children of our hardworking parents, that we must take advantage of the opportunities our parents have sweat, cried, bled, and worked to give us. It is only right that we raise our people out of poverty, for political representation, proper schools, labor rights, and better lives. I believe that because of my experience and my worldview, I bring understanding and sympathy to the experiences and struggles of people of color in the United States. Experiences and struggles of exploitation, neglect, poverty but most importantly a struggle of perseverance. I wish to bring systemic change to the centuries of exploitation and subjugation in order to help build a more equitable, just and sustainable society.
