ABOUT RODRIGO J. TOSCO SABARIS

Finance professional with 10 years of experience designing and implementing financial instruments that move capital into markets and sectors where it would not otherwise flow.My career has been built around a core question: how do you structure a financial product so that the risk, return and impact profile works for every party involved? That has taken me through transaction structuring, deal execution, portfolio management, product development and donor coordination across two of the world\'s leading multilateral development banks. One concrete expression of that work is the portfolio management of an EU first loss guarantee facility with a headroom of EUR 490m+, deployed across climate transition and industrial decarbonisation transactions.I am drawn to financial innovation in its practical form, not as a concept but as the work of designing instruments, calibrating incentives and building the frameworks that allow institutional and private capital to reach underserved markets. My experience in concessional finance and guarantee facilities gives me a grounded understanding of where and why conventional capital falls short, and what it takes to bridge that gap.My MBA research examined how venture capital can be mobilised into negative emission technologies and nature based solutions, which reflects a longer standing interest in the frontier between finance and climate outcomes.I am also interested in exploring how AI tools can support better risk assessment in emerging and frontier markets, where perception gaps rather than fundamental risk are often what drives the investment shortfall. I welcome conversations with anyone thinking about how innovative finance and technology can work together to unlock these markets.
