ABOUT RODRIGO BURGARELLI

I currently manage one of the major data governance programs at Meta, ensuring internal statistics shared externally are accurate and defensible. Our team of 50+ data scientists and technical program managers reviews thousands of requests per year, based on processes, risk assessment guidelines, research standards, and tooling that I either put together or oversee. I also lead data storytelling for Meta\'s Earnings calls, supporting C-level leaders directly.I\'m a reporter at heart, that loves rigor, data, and good storytelling. And I love building tools and streamlining processes to make things run smoothly and more efficiently. In my previous role at Facebook, I worked with news organizations and government officials across all Latin America providing real-time insights and data visualization tools during major elections across the region. Before that, I worked at one of Brazil\'s major newspaper, O Estado de S. Paulo, as a data journalist, covering public policy, economics, urban affairs, demography, politics, and social issues. I won the ExxonMobil (Esso) Journalism Prize in 2015, the most prestigious journalism award in Brazil, for an investigative series that disclosed the misuse of public funds for subsidizing private universities. I was also part of the team who investigated the Panama Papers, a project that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting in 2017.
