About Rodney Giarrusso
I have successfully achieved my CSHS (Construction Safety and Health Specialist) in the Private and Public Sector thru R.I.T. In June our company participated in 2016 & 2017 National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction presented by OSHA. We had 34 employees who participated and received cards and hard hat stickers upon completion. Now that I am OSHA Authorized Construction Trainers we have already began teaching in house and in the public sector of the construction industry. I have successfully taught 12 OSHA 10 classes. I have been approached by the area BOCES to become consultants to their craft committees to guide the curriculum that would make the students more employable upon graduation. I have attended job fairs and spread the word how Safety is an important part of the Construction Industry. I have concentrated on keeping accidents to minimum and information to a maximum. I have made it a priority to gather all pertinent and non-pertinent information along with photos to help document a claim. I also have updated our safety manual to be OSHA compliant with the changes to confined space and silica standard. I have implemented this program thru toolbox talks. Of course, everything is documented. As Safety Director my goals are keep our employees up to date with certifications that we can provide. We will attend new training sessions for ourselves and offer to employees as well. We will review the safety training classes from the carpenters, laborer and mason unions so our union employees are informed on when these classes are so they can attend. Detailed documentation of accidents will be on top of the list when accidents do occur as well as onsite interviews with potential witnesses.
