ABOUT RODRIGO M.

As a young kid, I was always pushed to learn the ‘value’ of work. I believed that meant understanding that money doesn\'t grow on trees. From a small-sided soccer referee at 12 to where I am now, I understand ‘work,’ better. Work is reciprocal to your attitude and the amount of effort you put into it. It is also an opportunity to explore interests, get to know people and broaden your horizons. For me these values reflect themselves in the pride I take working in a team, with a strong work ethic and open-mindedness. These attributes are outlined by my diverse cultural experiences and status as both a Canadian citizen and an immigrant. These characteristics have allowed me to be an influential team member in the various working opportunities I have had both domestically and abroad. Most recently during an internship with an NGO in Peru, I implemented several survey protocols and assessment reports for a waste management program sponsored by ContourGlobal. Using Spanish (natal tongue), I monitored and synthesized qualitative and quantitative data to produce reports and present recommendations to my directors and, subsequently, our sponsors.Before my internship, I had a Co-op with Endless Solutions and HomeBiogas where I achieved sales negotiations and donatory funds to install HomeBiogas systems. I met with a variety of stakeholders varying from different levels of governance to NGOs in rural and impoverished communities in Mexico and Guatemala. Throughout these two most recent opportunities, I developed my knowledge of sustainable development in developing countries while expanding on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and their impact. Meanwhile, I have been a part of the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve since 2018. Throughout the process of consistent training, I have formulated effective teamwork and management skills while honing my leadership and critical thinking abilities within stressful and time-constrained environments. I love meeting new people, hearing different perspectives and learning about others\' experiences.
