As a Network Chief, I am responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, and supervising both local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) that enable critical command and control. My role includes advanced routing and switching, cybersecurity, fault detection and correction, quality of service (QoS), implementation and management of the cable plan, long-haul transport, IP management, encryption management, network monitoring, and full systems integration and troubleshooting. Additionally, I ensure compliance with security standards, employ programming and planning tools, and manage maintenance procedures, budgeting, and administrative processes. Network Chiefs also supervise the establishment and operation of technical control sites, and we are expected to maintain a thorough understanding of DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) requirements, including the training and certifications outlined in DoDI 8140.10, DoDM 8140.10, and the MOS roadmap.In addition to my technical responsibilities, I serve as a Staff Sergeant of Marines. In this role, I am tasked with maintaining three other military occupational specialty groups within the communications section. When senior leadership is not present, I am entrusted with taking charge of their roles and responsibilities, ensuring that operations continue seamlessly. I pride myself on being dependable and reliable, consistently completing tasks without the need for close supervision. I am also eager to expand my knowledge by learning the responsibilities of different MOSs within the Marine Corps, and I am always ready to assist in accomplishing the mission.
