ABOUT RODEL MELAYA

Young professional with demonstrated experience in consulting, finance, and real estate development. Today I assist advisors and investors at LPL Financial, the nation\'s largest independent broker-dealer. Prior to working full-time, I was a member of the UCSD team for the 2017 NAIOP University Challenge. As head of market research and cash flow, my work in demographics, rental rates, and 10-year projections was very well-rounded. 10 weeks and 150+ hours later, our efforts culminated in a $500M development proposal with three, mix-used high rises in downtown San Diego\'s civic core. For volunteer work, I’ve had the honor of helping build homes through non-profits Build a Miracle and Habitat for Humanity. This desire to give back originated when I helped fight poverty in Honduras with my Global Brigades team. After interviewing the community bank and dozens of families, we were able to provide consulting to business and non-business people alike on accounting, administration, marketing, and operations. My degree includes a BA in Economics with two minors in Business and Urban Planning. I have the business savvy to analyze cases and suggest recommendations, while incorporating the intuition of a city planner. I know fundamentals such as the financial calculator and analysis of income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow. In more complex courses, I\'ve done investment portfolio analysis and valuing a company.
