Lawyer in Private Practice in Ontario since 1972 specializing in real estate development and corporate law and Member in Good Standing of the Law Society [of England and Wales] since 1988; Has led teams that acted for the owners of Scotia Plaza and Brookfield Place in connection with their original development. Other real estate development projects include the Chrysler Canada headquarters in Windsor, the Hudson Bay Centre, Toronto, Rideau Centre, Ottawa and the Centre for the Performing Arts in Vancouver. In the United States, he was responsible for the legal arrangements including tax incremental financing for the redevelopment and rehabilitation of live theatres on 42nd Street in New York City and in the Central Loop in Chicago. In addition to conventional bank financing, has experience in papering private placements and public offerings of secured and unsecured debt, limited partnership units and equity. Has been involved in law firm management both with Gowlings and predecessor firm, Smith Lyons as including Managing Partner of Gowlings\' largest office when a significant increase in profit per equity partner was achieved both by growing revenue and containing costs. Goals are to provide clients with cost effective business advice geared to achieving fair results in a spirit of collaboration and applying the knowledge and lessons learned over a 40 year career.
