   Want to buy a Computer? When and how many? I manage the Compute VirtualMachines (VM) Control Plane service, working to build a core part of Oracle\'s Cloud Infrastructure offering. We are a customer focused team, with our dominant KPIs being revenue (cores sold), availability (API success rate), and efficiency (revenue per core). On our team everyone is a developer, a tester, architect, SRE, and we would rather automate something than fix things manually over and over again. I focus on building processes that let engineers spend more time coding and less time conveying status, and getting rid of meetings with too many attendees. I\'m an engineer who meets with principal developers to plan the future, and understand key technical details for the problems of today. I\'m product focused and spend time with high profile clients to understand their needs to build an attractive and competitive experience. I care about ops and know that to build a product with 100% uptime you have to invest heavily in automation to ensure any problem is detected early and dealt with quickly, and prioritize automating repeated manual action to minimize operator pain. When I started I was given 5 engineers and scope of 1/3 of the team. In Sep 2019 I took over ownership of all of the VMI Control Plane with 25 engineers, and have grown to a team of 45, including multiple senior principal engineers and managers.
