Since my unanimous appointment to complete the term in May, I’ve been deeply engaged with my Council colleagues in guiding Tucson’s leadership of over $2.4 billion in annual budgets, and managing a dedicated $2.7 million operational budget for my specific jurisdiction. Key Areas of Focus & ImpactParticipated in setting the FY 2026 budget—including the prioritization of fair pay, public safety, after-school programming, and essential community infrastructure—while navigating a $27 million shortfall.Voted to send the updated general plan to voters, supporting sustainable growth, conservation, and balanced development Directly oversee community outreach, program implementation, and constituent services supported by a talented six-person staff.Advocate for Ward 5 on education, housing, health equity, civic participation, public safety, monsoon preparedness, and economic development. I work closely with city departments, community stakeholders, and state and federal partners.A visible advocate at community meetings, educational forums, cultural events, and service initiatives, maintaining open communication through social platforms, newsletters, and public presentations.Why It MattersTucson’s council-manager government requires shared decision-making and strong collaboration. As Council Members, we hold legislative authority and set policy and budgets, while the City Manager handles daily operations with our collaboration.
