Operating within the People Services Directorate as part of the Centre of Excellence for Data, Insight and Analytics, this role is focused on delivering robust, data-driven insights to support strategic workforce planning and organisational decision-making.Key Responsibilities:Develop performance reports using Power BI, enabling stakeholders to self-serve and interrogate workforce data in real time.Conduct in-depth analysis of complex datasets to uncover trends, measure performance, and support evidence-based interventions aligned to the Council’s People Strategy.Translate business needs into data requirements and visualisation solutions, ensuring clarity, usability, and alignment with organisational objectives.Contribute to the design and implementation of the People Technology Strategy, including improvements to data governance, systems integration, and digital capability.Support the creation and management of large-scale data warehouses by integrating and transforming data from a range of internal and external sources.Collaborate cross-functionally with IT teams, HR specialists, and directorate leads to enhance data flows, improve data quality, and ensure consistency across systems.Provide analytical support for corporate reward and recognition initiatives, ensuring data is accessible, accurate, and tailored to diverse stakeholder groups.Promote adherence to data protection regulations (e.g, GDPR), ensuring all data is managed with the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance.Actively contribute to continuous improvement and digital transformation projects aimed at enhancing service delivery within People Services.This role requires me to have a high level of technical proficiency in Power BI and other digital tools, alongside strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

With over ten years of experience as an HR professional in Local Government, I am a CIPD Level 5 qualified Data Analytics specialist with a passion for data, insight, and evidence-based decision making, particularly in regard to people data analytics and insights. I have successfully delivered multiple reward and analytics projects for public sector organisations, including Birmingham City Council, where I currently work as a Data, Insight & Analytics Officer.In my current role, I support the delivery of strategic people insights by providing high-quality analysis, dashboards, and reporting tools. I use data to inform and influence decision making across the Council’s workforce agenda. I also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data quality, compliance, and alignment with organisational priorities and best practices in people analytics.Currently undertaking Level 4 Data Analyst certification and Comptia Data+ accreditation with an estimated completion date of March 2026.
