ABOUT ROBERT ALEXANDER NORTMANN

I have a passion for education, a dedication to fostering inclusive learning environments, and a commitment to student success, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the academic growth and personal development of students. After retiring from a 10-year career in professional basketball, I completed a Master of Science in Education with a specialization in History from Niagara University. During my career as a professional basketball player, I was fortunate enough to work on several different continents and with a very diverse group of people. This has allowed me to gain experience with a variety of personalities, cultures, and teaching methods. In addition to my experience as a professional basketball player, I have over 20 years of youth basketball coaching. I started coaching youth basketball for the City of Toronto at the Beaches Recreation Centre. After gaining a few years of coaching experience, I was recruited by Elite Camps, one of the top youth basketball programs in the city, and was quickly promoted to a head coach position, allowing me to expand my scope to include a predominant leadership role. I then spent 3 years as the Head Coach at City Hoops and the coach of multiple teams in various sports at Crescent School. Through volunteer work at organizations such as the Running & Reading Club, Bench Bullying, and Buckets & Borders, I have had the opportunity to give back to the community and make a positive impact on at risk youth.Collectively, I have 3 years of teaching experience at various schools in Toronto: Boardwalk Montessori School, Key Park Montessori School, West Hill CI, and Crescent School. During this time, I have demonstrated success in designing and implementing engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities. My ability to establish strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues has allowed me to successfully foster a supportive learning community.
