ABOUT ROB GILBERT
As Director of Estates and Facilities at the University of Wolverhampton, I lead the strategic development, optimisation, and sustainability of a diverse and complex estate—ensuring our built environment supports academic excellence, enhances the student experience, and delivers on the University’s Strategy 2035 ambitions.With over 30 years of experience as a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, I bring a blend of technical, commercial, and strategic expertise across estate management, capital development, sustainability consulting, and operational leadership within the education, health, residential, and commercial sectors.I have led the successful delivery of more than 4 million sq ft of educational and commercial development and over 500 new homes, alongside major refurbishment, retrofit, and decarbonisation programmes. My expertise spans the full RIBA Plan of Work (Stages 0–7) and includes carbon reduction, asset optimisation, capital planning and business case development.A Fellow of both the Chartered Management Institute and the Royal Society of Arts, I am passionate about creating inclusive, sustainable, and high-performing environments that empower people to succeed.
