About Rob Lindgren

I’m a software engineer with a background in research, quantitative analysis, and economics. I currently work for Capital One leveraging LLMs, vector databases, distributed model training, and classical machine learning to deliver solutions that that make life easier for both our customers and associates.Prior to Capital One, I worked in economic policy research. I studied the feasibility of forecasting variables like GDP from the text of news articles, developed models of the banking system for simulating regulatory changes, and automated data processing.I made the switch from economics to software engineering by getting my MSCS at Georgia Tech. I completed my master’s project in the Design Intelligence Lab where I studied the real-world efficacy of Jill Watson, an LLM-powered virtual teaching assistant. We published our initial results in “Does Jill Watson Increase Teaching Presence?” at Learning@Scale ’24.
