   The Science & Technology Development unit serves as NCBiotech\'s primary support to NC\'s research universities. We act as a funder to support of the translation of academic research into product-oriented development. We serve as a convener and resource to academic and industry scientists, university research administrators, tech transfer offices, industry partners, technology development professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, economic developers, government officials and other communities critical to NC\'s life science enterprise. As VP, I direct an extraordinary team of five, manage an annual budget of $3.7MM, contribute to Center strategy and operations as a member of senior management, and serve on several non-profit boards. I have led the development and roll-out of programs that support translational research, technology transfer, strategic partnerships, entrepreneurship and postdoctoral training, and helped secure $4MM from a world-leading pharmaceutical company to create and implement a unique gene therapy fellowship program.
