   Of all the roles I’ve occupied over the course of my career, this is by far my favorite! I started Spring Psychological Services in 2020 because I wanted to provide better psychological care for my patients. While I wanted to make this change for my patients, I also needed to do it for myself. I love being a psychologist. Unfortunately, I began to lose my passion and sense of purpose as a psychologist after years of working within systems that didn’t always understand the nuances of what it means to provide quality therapy. I express this sentiment from a place of compassion and understanding. When I talk with fellow psychologists about what it’s like to provide care to patients while working within large systems, I usually hear two things - it’s great being able to provide care to so many people and it’s challenging when you aren’t able to advocate for your patients and yourself. In therapy, I often talk with clients about the power of change when it starts from within, and starting my own practice was the change from within I needed. As the founder of Spring Psychological Services it’s been rewarding to be honest about the presenting concerns I feel competent to treat, to see my patients as frequently as needed without long wait times between appointments, to thoughtfully adjust how I provide care, and to honor my own limits so that I feel energized and effective for the clients on my caseload. I provide individual and group therapy for patients with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, addictive behaviors, emotional avoidance, and relationship concerns. It’s common for these topics to overlap, and I enjoy helping clients work through them in individual, group, and couples therapy. In addition to therapy, I provide postdoctoral supervision to psychologists in training, and I enjoy working with small groups on issues related to mental health - burnout, resiliency, stress management, mindfulness, and relationship skills.
