About Robina Ruby Shaheen
I am a physical chemist and have worked in chemistry labs in Europe and USA. Outside the lab, I enjoy using big data-GIS and remote sensing to address global climate issues including air pollution, droughts, and wildfires, and their impact on the health, business, and ecosystem. As a planetary scientist, I use my chemistry and big data analytics skills to unlock the mysteries of nature preserved in meteorites, space rocks, aerosols, ice cores, and sediments. It is like being a detective to retrieve information about the past and present history of the planet and how humans and natural forces have changed the composition of the atmosphere. I enjoy teaching, mentoring, and sharing my research findings at all forums from peer-reviewed articles to public lectures and writing short stories in magazines for the general public.

Enforcement Division: 1- Analysis of emission inventory of criteria and toxic air pollutants and comparison of model results with actual emissions. 2- Permit evaluation for stationary sources of air pollution. Evaluation of analytical techniques to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen, sulfur, carbon monoxide, and volatile organics from industrial sources. Mobile Sources and Diesel Program Emission Branch:1. Deployment of portable emission measurement devices and analysis of black carbon, carbon dioxide, and oxides of nitrogen to identify high emitters on the road.2. Developed peak detection algorithms using Python and wavelet analysis.3. SQL queries to prioritize citations for enforcement actions.4. Building dashboards for AB617-disadvantaged community emission reduction data evaluation.
