Joint appointment with the London School of Economics and Political Science as part of the André Hoffmann Fellowship for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This fellowship focuses on tackling policy and regulatory pertaining to the ability to generate social and economic value within digitally-augmented health systems.Thematic areas- Payment models to help finance the FAIRification of health data- Value-based licensing of health datasets, as well as digital health and artificial intelligence technologies- Role of regulatory sandbox environments in the implementation of digital health and artificial intelligence technologies- Assessment guidelines for value-based financing of digital health and artificial intelligence technologiesResearch- Perform research projects in various health fields (e.g. digital health, health policy, health economics)- Expand the network and scientific body of LSE Health Digital, the dedicated digital health research hub within LSE HealthPolicy- Facilitate discussions and workshops as part of the Global Coalition for Value in Healthcare\'sDialogue Series, aimed at advancing value-based, digitally augmented healthcare systems- Curate and synthesise case studies and research findings for dissemination through variouschannels, including those of the Forum- Contribute to the ongoing dialogue on value-based care reforms and strategies for implementingsuch models at the country level- Draft and execute stakeholder engagement plans for specific project opportunities- Provide research support to project activity

ABOUT ROBIN VAN KESSEL
I am currently the Hoffmann Fellow between LSE Health and the World Economic Forum, with a particular specialisation on the role of AI technologies in health systems. At the LSE, I co-founded and lead the AI and Digital Unit, focusing on the regulation, implementation, and financing of digital health and AI technologies. I hold a PhD in Comparative Health Policy from Maastricht University.My research portfolio mainly focuses on the intersection of digital health, artificial intelligence, health systems, and health policy and has been published in leading medical and policy journals, such as npj Digital Medicine, The Lancet Digital Health, The Lancet Regional Health - Europe, and The BMJ. My work has been integrated in policy documents of the World Health Organization, European Commission, and World Economic Forum. I have also been recognised in Stanford University’s and Elsevier’s 2025 list of the world’s top 2% of scientists in the field of Medical Informatics.
