I manage Nesta\'s work in Scotland on the Sustainable Future Mission, focused on making it easier for households to end their contribution to climate change. Our current focus is on using social innovation to help households decarbonise their home heating, moving away from fossil fuels, and installing highly-efficient and modern electric heat pump systems instead. We carry out research projects, pilot new approaches and develop innovative services - using our toolbox of social innovation and research methods. We embrace working in partnership, taking risks and trying new things out.Our work looks to increase demand for low-carbon heating by making heat pumps more appealing and affordable to consumers. In addition, we work on the supply side to increase the supply capacity of the heat pump sector, especially through installer skills development. And lastly, we focus on how households can use their heating systems flexibly and efficiently.
