- educator - explorer GRIT AND GHOSTS: Following the Trail of Eight Tenacious Women across a Century (Bison Books, 2024).I served as education curator and assistant director at the Hoboken Historical Museum and the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts; Interim Executive Director of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. My work in cultural arts organizations is fundamentally about telling and sharing stories, individual stories and stories of community, and creating public and educational programs to share those stories with diverse audiences.I\'ve taught history at Southern Maine Community College, Kean University, and George Mason University. More recently, I teach ESOL to adult learners.My writing has appeared in a variety of publications, including the Journal of Urban History, Another Chicago Magazine, and Rooted2: The Best New Arboreal Nonfiction. My biography, Carl Van Doren: A Man of Ideas, was named National Indie Excellence Awards Finalist for 2019.
