Arukah Animal International is an arts-focused animal-advocacy organization using the arts to inspire a radical shift toward an appreciation that we humans share emotional lives and kinship with other animals. The incandescence of art can inspire us all into taking a stand against the archipelago of suffering of other species, the alarming diminution of lives to which the most appalling cruelties are committed. We are all equal in who we are and our desire to live. In 2023, we had two major live-streamed events—an exhilarating flow of ideas from wide-ranging perspectives, as well as the premier of a video,\"Pigs and Pathogens, What’s on Your Plate? Rather, WHO\'s on Your Plate?\" that laid bare the despair and desolation for pigs on factory farms—a hotbed of pathogenic or zoonotic infectious diseases. The following year we presented \"Animals in Media,\" in partnership with The Animal Turn podcast. The celebrated and illustrious scholars, artists, and activists included Marc Bekoff, Ph.D, Jeff Sebo, Ph.D, Steve Decker, and Esther the Wonder Pig; Dana Ellyn, Annie Potts, Ph.D; Claudia Hirtenfelder, Ph.D, Julia Denos, Bubi the Bear, Laura Jean McKay, Maria Martelli, Shannon Johnstone, Michelle Waters, Carol Gigliotti, Ph.D, EvaMarie Lindahl, Ph.D, Claire Parkinson, Ph.D, Susan McHugh, Ph.D, and Tobias Linné, Ph.D.We are actively campaigning to stop the first industrial commercial farming of octopuses by the global seafood company, Nueva Pescanova, through the development of an animated short film with an award-winning filmmaking team, an online petition against octopus farming, a series of social media collaborations, and blogs.\"Tiny Liquid Ballerina,\" our first tribute to wondrous octopuses, was created with artist Noam Oxman, and debuted at Eurogroup for Animals\' international conference on World Octopus Day, 2024.
