ABOUT ROB GILLIES
I am a senior environment and sustainability professional with over 20 years experience in environmental, social, governance (ESG) strategy and leadership, research and innovation funding, environmental consultancy, change management, project and programme management and HR roles in both the public and private sectors.I am currently supporting the evolution of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) approach across Buro Happold, a world-class global practice of engineers, designers and advisers. Previous roles have included: Head of ESG at Constellation Automotive Group, Europe\'s largest vertically integrated digital car marketplace; driving delivery of UK Research & innovation\'s Environmental Sustainability Strategy including its 2040 net-zero target; and leadership of the Natural Environment Research Council\'s Futures Team developing business-research partnerships to apply world-leading environmental science to solve sustainability challenges.My early career was spent in HR consulting, project management and operational HR roles in the postal and IT industries before moving into varied consultancy and project management roles implementing business transformation projects. I then moved into an environmental and sustainability consulting role where I was responsible for leading operations and delivery activity in addition to directing and managing public and private sector sustainability projects. Alongside my role at Buro Happold I am also pleased to be a: Non-Exec Director at Wiltshire Wildlife Community Energy, Full Member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment and Chartered Environmentalist, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, and the founder of Refill Chippenham, a local scheme to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic.
