Vivo Energy ltd is the market-leading, pan-African retailer and distributor of Shell and Engen-branded fuels and lubricants. I currently lead the Group’s Communications function and am responsible for development and delivery of the internal and external relations and communications strategy, helping to promote and enhance the company’s corporate image. The role includes supporting the CEO with all Board, internal and external comms; managing the Group’s ESG activity; overseeing the Group’s social media strategy and channels; intranet and website development; crisis preparedness and management; development of the Group’s Annual Report and other financial communications; media relations; and both internal and external support for all the different classes of business within the Group. I have direct responsibility for a lean team of three in London and ‘dotted-line’ responsibility for around 40 communications professionals across the Group. Highlights have included leading communications for Vivo Energy’s IPO and listing on the London and Johannesburg stock exchanges in 2018, its subsequent delisting in 2022, and the acquisition and integration of the Engen brand in eight new markets in 2019; taking our presence to 23 countries across Africa.
