I joined Lyft in September 2020 to work on end-to-end efficiency for their Bikes and Scooters. I am not currently exploring other opportunities, as I\'m still happily settling in at Lyft. I have a strong working background in high-availability, low-latency, many-petabyte globally distributed data storage and serving systems, with a strong focus on end-to-end efficiency & cost optimization.My focus at Google was on yielding multi-percent cost savings each year across a large and growing storage infrastructure footprint. In this role I consider all aspects to be in scope, including at least- raw data gathering & visualization- improving cost modeling at various levels (from \"raw\" deployed hardware to complex distributed systems)- informing cost models for external products)- logistics processes & inventory management- supporting & executing complex multi-year software architecture changes- risk analysis, and- altering internal economics & incentives.While Site Reliability Engineering is very dear to me as a profession, I do not expect to take roles as an individual contributor SRE: if you are looking for a Software Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer, I am almost certainly not the person you want. At Tumblr I enjoyed helping to mature and grow an SRE team and would consider that again for the right company.
