Italian pianist and musicologist Roberto Prosseda is internationally known for his sensational discovery of new Mendelssohn works, recorded in several CD’s for Decca. His \"Mendelssohn Discoveries\" album (2005) has been included in the top 10 Mendelssohn piano recordings by the magazine \"Piano\".\"Mendelssohn Rarities\"(2006) received highest ratings in European and American music magazines including Classicstoday, USA (9/9), Diapason, France (5 diapasons), Amadeus, Italy (5/5 and best CD of the month) and Fono Forum, Germany (5/5). His third double CD album of “Lieder Ohne Worte” also received great critical acclaim, including Chamber Music CD of the Month in the UK’s Classic FM magazine. His 2009 live recording of Mendelssohn\'s 3rd Piano Concerto with the Gewandhaus Orchestra and Riccardo Chailly won the \"Diapason d\'Or of the Month\" and the \"CHOC de Classica\".Highlights of Prosseda’s concerts in recent years include solo appearances at the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Wigmore Hall in London, Teatro alla Scala in Milano, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Triennale Köln, Tchaikowsky Hall in Moscow.In 2009 Prosseda made his orchestral solo debut with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic, the Residentie Orkest in The Hauge, the Flemish Radio Orchestra, the Calgary Philharmonic and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.Born in Latina, Italy, in 1975, Prosseda studied at the Accademia Pianistica \"Incontri col Maestro\" in Imola with Alexander Lonquich, Boris Petrushansky and Franco Scala and at the International Piano Foundation in Cadenabbia with Dmitri Bashkirov, Leon Fleisher, William Grant Naboré, Charles Rosen, Karl Ulrich Schnabel, Fou Ts\'Ong.His Decca recordings also include albums dedicated to Chopin, Schumann and Liszt.Specialties: Roberto Prosseda is particularly appreciated for his classical piano recitals, dedicated to Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Chopin. He is also a keen champion of Italian XX Century and Contemporary Piano Music (Petrassi, Dallapiccola, Aldo Clementi, Luciano Berio, Ivan Fedele). In 2011 he made his debut on the pedal-piano, with Gounod’s Concerto for pedal-piano and orchestra (modern premiere). Prosseda is the first concert pianist to give concerto performances with the pedal-piano.
