About Roberto Baldoni

In August 2021 Roberto Baldoni was appointed by the Prime Minister Mario Draghi as the first General Director of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN). Position held till March 2023. In his tenure he set the Agency up juridically, logistically and hiring 170 skilled units of personnel. Among major achievements: together with Minister Vittorio Colao he conceived the National Cloud Strategy. He architected the National Cybersecurity Strategy signed by PM Draghi in May 2022 which included 82 holistic measures to be implemented by 2026 to increase national cyber resilience and strategic autonomy in cyberspace. The document is a collective and coordinated effort of all central administrations of Italy.From December 2017 until August 2021 he was appointed by Prime Minister Gentiloni as Deputy Director General of the Information Department for Security in charge of developing the National Cybersecurity Architecture and coordinating the mitigation actions of cyber attacks with an impact on national security. During his tenure, Roberto Baldoni was also the national contact point at NATO for cyber policy issues. Among most impacting activities, Baldoni architected the “National Security Perimeter for Cyber” Law, approved by the Italian Parliament in 2019. The law introduces a security framework imposing mandatory requirements to digital assets that underpin services or infrastructures whose disruption can impact national security. In 2021 he led the working group drafting the law (DL n.82/2021) restructuring the cybersecurity architecture of Italy and establishing ACN. From 2002 to 2021 Roberto Baldoni was Full Professor of Computer Science at La Sapienza University of Rome where he founded in 2011 and directed till 2017 the first research center in Italy on \"Cyber Intelligence and Information Security\". In 2014 he founded and directed till 2017 the National Cybersecurity Laboratory of Italy which joined more than 200 faculties from 45 public and private university of Italy. In 2021, he was in the 1% of the world\'s most influential researchers ranked by Stanford University. Along his scientific career, he published several books and more than two hundreds papers. Roberto holds an h-index of 53 according to google scholar and he has been recipient of several international awards for outstanding research achievements. In 2025, he was awarded with the \"Outstanding Leadership Award\" from the Technical Committee on Homeland Security and joined the Global Trusted Tech Standard Board of Governors of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue
