ABOUT ROBERTO CAVIGLIA

As an Electrical Engineer specializing in Operational Technology and Industrial IoT, I have built my career at the intersection of industrial engineering, cybersecurity, and strategic leadership. I currently serve as Chief Business Unit Officer of Y Cyber, the HWG Sababa business unit dedicated to Industrial and OT Cybersecurity, where I lead the strategic, technological, and commercial direction of the organization. As co-founder of the business unit, I played a central role in defining its vision, building its service portfolio, and positioning it as a specialized provider of vertical, industry-focused cybersecurity solutions across energy, manufacturing, transportation, and other critical infrastructure sectors. Today, I oversee business growth, innovation, service delivery, and the development of strategic technology alliances and channel partnerships, ensuring sustainable expansion and high-impact customer outcomes.Prior to this role, as OT/IIoT Subject Matter Expert and OT Cybersecurity Team Leader at HWG Sababa, I led complex industrial cybersecurity programs integrating deep process engineering expertise with international regulatory and technical standards. I developed an OT Risk Management Model, tailored for large-scale industrial enviroments including the Saudi Arabian Oil and Gas sector. My technical expertise spans IEC 61850 architectures, modern substations, and IED security through IEC 62351 and 1686 standards, as well as cybersecurity for low- and high-voltage plants, power electronics, automation systems, and industrial communication protocols. I have also contributed to the automotive domain by designing a cybersecurity validation testbed aligned with UN R155/R156 regulations, enabling secure validation of ECUs and connected vehicle gateways. As co-founder of AIrFIELD Security, I led the development of a machine learning driven platform for Fieldbus traffic analysis, enhancing ICS visibility and anomaly detection capabilities. My academic background, including Ph.D. research at the University of Genova, integrates industrial process analysis, control systems engineering, and cybersecurity, a multidisciplinary foundation that continues to inform my executive approach to building resilient, standards-based, and business-aligned cybersecurity strategies.Throughout my career, I have focused on strengthening the resilience of critical infrastructures, bridging operational engineering and cybersecurity governance, and driving secure digital transformation in complex industrial environments.
