Lead a team that manages the City\'s Housing department with a portfolio of Below Market Rate (BMR) units. Manage all housing related programs and initiatives, such as affordable housing development and financing, acting as Milpitas’ liaison to HUD, rent control/just cause eviction ordinances, tenant-landlord dispute resolution, and state housing law implementation. Represent the Department at City Council, Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, Commission and Sub-committee meetings on new or existing local policies and amendments under review in public forum. Negotiated regulatory agreements, deed restrictions, property management agreements and other real estate related documents to build new housing developments. Review residential and commercial development proposals to secure approvals under local requirements. Manage team of code enforcement officers that ensure compliance of local code ordinances throughout the city. Periodic strategic initiative review with leadership highlighting detailed KPIs that demonstrate the success of a program and the community impact. Tasked with identifying community problems, creating, or establishing strategic partnerships, and designing solutions.
