About Robert Fowler
Passionate mechanical engineer at Space Dynamics Laboratory.Hardware I have analyzed or designed is on the Moon, orbiting Mars, returning from sampling the asteroid Bennu, and soon taking humans into deep space. Currently, performing stress analysis, dynamics, mechanical testing, and all things mechanical on NASA\'s NEO Surveyor Mission. Also, leading an innovative IR & D program in metal additive propulsion tanks for spacecraft.Performed stress analysis and finite element model creation and integration of the full stack ORION spacecraft for NASA\'s ARTEMIS Mission. Inventor of the Flex-16 Spacecraft Deployment Hinge and leading mechanism development effort.Previously, worked Fracture Control and fracture analysis on ORION.Stress analyst on NASA\'s OSIRIS-REx Mission from before PDR to Launch.Mechanical designer on NASA\'s MAVEN Mission.Stress analyst and ATLO engineer on NASA\'s GRAIL Mission. Completed master\'s degree with thesis in mechanical engineering at BYU researching in design and analysis of compliant mechanisms for space applications. Published two peer-reviewed technical journal articles, won 1st place in international mechanisms competition, presented at domestic and international conferences. Completed graduate coursework in mechanisms, composites, MEMS, FEA, optimization, and advanced mechanics of materials.
