About Robert Mechielsen
Robert Mechielsen is a building innovator who combines software and concrete to create innovative and sustainable solutions for the construction industry. He has over 40 years of experience in designing and building carbon-neutral, modular, and smart homes, apartments, and high-rises around the world.He is the founder of VERTIKAAL, a software platform that automates the design process and generates 5D BIM data for cost estimation and scheduling. He is also the executive creative director of Studio RMA, a design-build firm that specializes in SCIP (Structural Concrete Insulated Panels) technology. He led the development of Composite Concrete Construction for Carbon Neutral Technologies BV, and designed the Hi’ilani EcoHouse, the first concrete-built carbon-neutral home in the USA. He is passionate about building the future of digital construction, and empowering the new players and markets with his cutting-edge technology and expertise.

As we take a closer look we see how these wings hide the solar arrays, harvest the rainwater and act as foils of an airplane wing catching the trade-winds to cool the building.WHAT THE PRESS IS SAYING: For too long, concrete has been synonymous with boring. Living in a house or apartment made of concrete gave off the distinct feel of being incarcerated in one\'s own living room. The material is quite affordable, however, and when manufactured responsibly it can be eco-friendly as well. Using only Tridipanel SCIP (Structural Concrete Insulated Panels, Robert Mechielsen of Studio RMA designed a breathtaking two-family dwelling on Hawaii\'s Big Island.
